Riding on a cyclic wave

I have borrowed this title from a book by Miranda Gray called The Optimized Woman, as it expresses exactly what I am living these days.

I once was an ambitious young woman working in academic environment, who was afflicted by a “little” problem every month: PMS. Although I was using contraceptives to regulate my menstrual cycle and to reduce its negative symptoms, once a month for a few days I was totally useless. I was feeling as if I had a barbed wire in my underbelly and my brain refused to work (which totally blocked me in my work, be it preparing courses for my students, teaching, translating or writing articles). There was nothing I could do apart from waiting for the moment when blood starts to flow and the spasms subside.

At one occasion, it went so far that I almost fainted while waiting at an office. But from the medical point of view I was absolutely fine. The only solution was to take a painkiller...

Relief came with my pregnancy and long lasting breast-feeding, which made me menstruate again just before Tobias’s forth birthday. And by coincidence (I call such things synchronicities), my good friend brought me a film called Moon inside you by a Slovakian director Diana Fabiánová. It was an unofficial copy from a film festival. For about two hours I stopped perceiving the world around, and when I emerged again, the world had never been the same again.

Diana opened a new, unknown area in me – she showed me that menstrual cycle is something different than only a few annoying days of pain and blood. She showed me that menstrual cycle has another, more profound meaning, which we were never told about.

The DVD with the movie immediately travelled further on from me till it reached Barbora Nádvorníková, whom it inspired to found a project of the same name Měsíc v nás (Moon Inside Us). A year later, I also become a part of it. And meanwhile I came across other sources that started to reveal to me the real essence of the menstrual cycle – those being books by Miranda Gray: Red Moon and The Optimized Woman.

The topic was so inspiring for me that I started to lead workshops for women focusing on the menstrual cycle, teaching them how to experience it in a different, much more pleasant and fulfilling way and how to start enjoying their life with all the gifts that our cycle brings us.

And of course, I started to carefully observe myself – how I change every day of the month. And instead of being upset that I am not always the same, that I am not always efficient, emotionally stable, beautiful and radiating, I started enjoying it immensely that I am ever-changing and different every day of my life.

At the beginning, the least favorite phase for me, as it is for most women, was the pre-menstrual phase, due to the pre-menstrual syndrome (although it disappeared after watching Diana’s movie and never came back again!) and due to unpleasant mood changes.

But when I started to work with my cycle, I became fascinated by the creative skills and strong intuition brought about by this phase. Also, I fell in love with the archetype of Enchantress, which is associated with this phase. Who of you would not want to be a charming, seemingly unpredictable, charismatic enchantress, who “knows” and who can communicate with the world outside our usual perceiving abilities and bring all these incredible ideas, insights and advice into our own lives and the lives of others? Who would not want to ride on the wave of creative skills, when creativity is literally gushing out of you and ideas are not possible to stop…? :-)

And this is how I discovered the magic of all the four phases of the menstrual cycle and fell in love with my cyclicity. I diligently observed what my phases bring me each month and every day. I observed my feelings towards myself, my son, my partner, all people around me. I observed what was easy for me to do and what felt terribly difficult. I observed when it was the best time to write, to communicate with people, to be active in the outside world or to be alone and relax…

And I started to observe my cyclic changes in my business as well. How I deal with my clients and customers. How I communicate with my colleagues. What I love to do and when – and what I hate to do and when. I tried to find out how to tune it up in order to be efficient and feel happy and relaxed at the same time. I discovered that the key was to do the right things in the right phase. It was really fascinating and helping me to live a happy and fulfilling life – and that is why I share this knowledge worldwide.

To cut it short what followed: As a publisher, I published Miranda’s third book, Spiritual Messages for Women. As a translator and a publisher, together with my colleagues from the Moon Inside Us project, we prepared a Czech translation of Miranda’s The Optimized Woman. This book gave birth to a project entitled Cyklická žena® (The Cyclic Woman) which became soon well-known in the Czech Republic.

I also started to follow even more one of my greatest passions which is writing, and since then I wrote three books on feminine cyclicity: The Balinese Diary of the Cyclic Woman, my travel diary written at an entrepreneurial study course in Bali, organized by Roger Hamilton, the author of Wealth Dynamics. Then a book for women about how to fully apply their cyclic knowledge in business and life, entitled 7 Habits of the Efficient Cyclic Woman. The last book I co-wrote with Erik Hutter – and it is a book for men teaching them how they can understand all the women around them, named A Manual to Women: Guiding the Modern Man in The Unpredictable World of Women.

These books are in Czech, but translations are in progress, so stay tuned. :-))

I also founded an international project the aim of which is to spread cyclic knowledge among women and men all around the world: CyclicWomen.Com.

Looking back, I see that the same thing that brought to me great discomfort and trouble in my past, then became an impulse for me to find my true life passion and my mission. And this passion and mission has been growing ever since and I have been doing more and more of what I truly love – and I can see this work of mine brings a lot to other people as well.

And, maybe, I can be of service even for you – just go on reading…

* your menstruation does not have to be painful or a nuisance,
* you do not have to suffer from premenstrual syndrome symptoms,
* your mood and energy swings can totally disappear.

I also teach them that menstrual cycle is not only a period when we bleed, but it has four phases:

* menstrual (reflective), pre-ovulation (dynamic), ovulation (expressive) and pre-menstrual
* each of the phases brings us certain talents and enhanced skills,
* each of the phases has its needs,
* and if these needs are fulfilled, we feel really great the whole month.

And I also teach them how they can talk about their cycle:

* with their husbands and mates,
* with their kids,
* anyone at their work.

I TEACH MEN how they can:

* understand their wives and partners, and all women around them,
* be happy in face of their mood swings,
* love their constant changes and upredictability,
* support them in all their phases,
* utilize the gifts of the menstrual cycle of women around them for themselves,
* – all of this both at home and at work.

I TEACH IN COMPANIES how they can:

* utilize better the potential of women in their teams,
* utilize cyclic time management for planning work tasks and routines for women,
* have more loyal and efficient women’s teams,
* fully tap into all the creativity resources of women in their company.

  • Evening workshops for women and men – or “what you always wanted to know about menstruation but were afraid to ask”. Women will learn how to turn their stressful menstrual experiences into pleasant ones – and men will learn how to deal with mood swings and criticisms from their wives. :-)
  • Day-long experiential workshops for women – here we focus on the functioning of our hormonal cycle and the qualities of its four phases, by means of sharing our individual experiences and by physical anchoring via intuitive dance and other very pleasant techniques.
  • Company workshops of cyclic time management – for company teams. Both women and men will learn how to plan working tasks and routines according to women’s cycles, and what are the enhanced skills of each of the phases. You will also learn how to increase efficiency, creativity and motivation of women in your team throughout the whole month, while they will feel constantly fulfilled and happy.
  • Cyclic pilgrimages – day-long accompanied pilgrimages to sacred feminine places in the Czech Republic, where I am available for personal consultation.

  • Coming soon:-))

  • Consultations – phone or skype consultations that can help you with:

• getting rid of painful menstruation or PMS symptoms,

I started to work with Dana-Sofie because I was generally not feeling ok – both physically and mentally – and I was looking for someone to help me get a grasp of the women’s cycle. Dana-Sofie provided me with simple, natural and fully working tips and recommendations which helped me get rid of the worst PM pain, organize my activities and – most important – stop feeling stressed out by the fact that I am different every day. And not even that – thanks to Dana-Sofie I also learned how to turn it all into an advantage in my personal and professional life.

For me, the day I met Dana-Sofie actually turned out to be a turning point in my life. Since then, my life has taken totally different direction and different pace, I feel much stronger, happier and fulfilled, and now, the main subject of our Skype sessions is my new business start up. If you also feel, same as I did some time ago, there is nothing really missing in your life and there is nothing to moan about, but also there is actually no drive in your life – now you know where to go. So, what are you waiting for? ;)
